How much power does Starlink use?
Official Starlink averages vary by hardware: Mini is listed at 20-40 W, Starlink V5 at 35-50 W, V4/Standard 4 and Enterprise at 75-100 W, Performance Gen 1 / Gen 2 at 110-150 W, and Performance Gen 3 at 70 W average.
Why Starlink runtime is shown as a range
Many Starlink entries publish average power bands instead of one guaranteed wattage. For those models, the calculator shows the shorter runtime at the higher watt figure and the longer runtime at the lower watt figure. Point-value models show one estimate.
Starlink Mini power consumption
Starlink Mini is the lowest-power category here at 20-40 W average, making it a practical fit for smaller batteries, camping, RV, and portable off-grid use.
Starlink V5 power consumption
Starlink V5 is listed by Starlink at 35-50 W average, lower than V4/Standard 4. Select V5 only if your hardware is the newer V5 kit.
Standard Starlink power consumption
Standard Actuated legacy kits use 50-75 W average. Starlink V4 / Standard 4 and Enterprise use 75-100 W average, while Standard 4 X is separated because a current model-specific Starlink page lists 62 W average.
Performance Starlink power consumption
Performance Gen 1 / Gen 2 remains useful for existing owners at 110-150 W average. Performance Gen 3 is a current entry with a 70 W official average.
AC vs DC considerations
Starlink's support values are AC input averages. If your setup runs through an inverter, efficiency and conversion losses matter. DC operation can change real-world results depending on the hardware and cable.
What affects Starlink runtime
Network activity, temperature, hardware revision, snow-melt operation, battery condition, inverter losses, and other connected loads can all move runtime away from the estimate.
Using Starlink during outages
Keep a reserve so the power station is not fully depleted, and include phones, lights, routers, or medical devices separately in the main calculator when they share the same battery.
Camping, RV, and off-grid use
For travel or remote work, calculate the conservative end of the range, then add margin for cloudy days, cold weather, device charging, and longer sessions.
Disclaimer
Results are estimates, not guaranteed runtime. Actual runtime can vary because of network activity, temperature, hardware revision, snow-melt operation, battery condition, inverter losses, and other connected loads.
